Sea Battle

Kandinsky, "Improvisation 31 (Sea Battle)"

"Sea Battle" does not portray any realistic subject matter. It consists of bright colour patches. This is a very bad representation of real space, and literal qualities. It is not precise. This is because the piece of art is abstract. The paint has been applied spontaneously. There are many bright colours used. It is colourful and crazy.

This piece has a good balance in colour because they all go well together. There isn't one colour that sticks out too much. The dark colours are distributed evenly throughout the piece to give balance. There is a variety of colours used. The piece takes your eyes from one part to another. That creates movement. The black parts create intensity and are bold.

The piece "Sea Battle" portrays a very energetic mood. You feel as if you want to know more about it. It keeps you looking for hidden details. It communicates how there is so much going on. It is interactive because when looking at it, you personally figure out what is shown. If you look carefully, you see ships/boats with large sails. "Sea Battle" by Kandinsky is a beautiful piece.
